Simpson has a B.F.A. from the University of New Mexico, an M.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design, and an M.A. in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She has had solo shows at the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, NV; the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, Santa Fe, NM; Pomona College Museum of Art, Claremont, CA; and Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO; the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA; and the University of New Mexico Art Museum, Albuquerque, NM.
