Rose B. Simpson is a mixed-media artist whose work addresses the emotional and existential impacts of our collective humanity. Her work revolves around the figure as proxy— from matriarchal or androgynous ceramic to attire, performance and custom cars— the insertion of self into a hyper-presence manifests an empathic ease. Simpson has a B.F.A. from the University of New Mexico, an M.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design, and an M.A. in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She has had solo shows at the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, NV; the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, Santa Fe, NM; Pomona College Museum of Art, Claremont, CA; and Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO; the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA; and the University of New Mexico Art Museum, Albuquerque, NM. Simpson lives and works at The Santa Clara Pueblo, NM.
