Patricia Johanson’s projects combine art, ecology, landscaping, and infrastructure. These include Fair Park Lagoon, Dallas, TX; a park and municipal flood basin, Endangered Garden, San Francisco, CA; a transport-storage sewer, part of the Bay Circuit Trail, Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility, Petaluma, CA; which processes sewage into recycled water within a public park, The Draw at Sugar House, Salt Lake City, UT; a sculptural dam and trail recalling the Mormon journey into Salt Lake City, and Mary’s Garden, Scranton, PA; that reclaims land and water devastated by coal mining. At McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario Cananda, she is replacing a parking lot with its former floodplain and creating a sculptural sustainable campus, using fill excavated for wetlands.
